Alex Brizendine

Creative Catalyst

Greenville, SC

As the Creative Catalyst at Smarty Pants, Alex doesn’t just think outside the box; she redefines it. She transforms data into dazzling insights, breathing life into complex projects with strategic thinking and a keen visual eye. She is particularly gifted at boiling complex insights into easy-to-digest visuals across media including presentations, reports, infographics, playbooks, posters, and videos.

Alex’s love for efficiency combined with her creative flare are most notable in her custom template and toolkit creations. She builds Smarty Pants’ as well as custom client templates from scratch to ensure ease of use and a stunning (and smart) end result. She shares her design knowledge, tools, tips and tricks to team members of all levels, helping the company grow its collective creative skillset and design productivity.

Alex is the creative heartbeat of the organization, collaborating with members of all experience levels to deliver memorable and actionable reports that captivate top-tier clients like Target, Mattel, Aetna, and Publix. As head of the Creative Committee, she keeps a pulse on design trends across the industry and ensures the entire Smarty Pants team produces smart and dazzling deliverables that exceed client expectations.

With nearly a decade of industry experience, Alex’s roots in creativity run deep. Before joining Smarty Pants, she flexed her creative and account management muscles at a digital marketing firm, The High Road Agency. There, she excelled at copywriting, delved into social media strategy research, facilitated digital marketing training workshops, and assisted in hosting events for clients.

Beyond the corporate world, she has served as a passionate spokesperson for non-profits, dedicating a portion of her free time to making a positive impact. Alex has orchestrated fundraisers, coordinated donations, and assisted in helping over 100 underprivileged children receiving clothing, personal care products, and toys for many years at Christmas. She has also been known to don an Elsa costume, surprising children at schools during holiday parties or, more recently, spreading joy over Zoom during the COVID-19 lockdown.

A magna cum laude graduate of East Tennessee State University, Alex hails from Bristol, TN, where her tenacity, writing skills and out-of-the-box thinking set her apart. Graduating a year early was just one of the many instances where she raised the bar – a little miss smarty pants from the start!

Now calling Greenville, South Carolina home, Alex loves going to local coffee shops, browsing thrift stores, walking through the downtown farmer’s market, growing wildflowers, hosting small dinner parties and spending time with her husband and little boy.
