Alyssa holds the well-deserved title of Insights Genius. She is a savvy senior researcher who masterfully manages complex, multi-method initiatives for several of Smarty Pants’ flagship clients. Her gifts include seeing the big picture and guiding strategy while being laser-focused on process details and ensuring an impeccable research experience. And her ability to synthesize data and develop seamless consumer stories that drive businesses forward is… well, genius. ​

As a youth and family expert, Alyssa has spent years studying babies, toddlers, kids, expectant parents, new parents and established families. She has a deep understanding of lifestage needs and the micro- and macro-trends that impact them. She uses this expertise to drive product and marketing innovation for the world’s most influential brands. Her authored work in the space can be found across multiple trade publications. ​

Alyssa’s daily purview includes research design, project and client management, qualitative moderation, tech-driven and “old school” analysis, and the creation of compelling end deliverables. Her key client partners span retail, social media, tech and food & beverage categories.


Over the past decade, Alyssa has honed her skills across a wide variety of industries: food & beverage, retail, chemical manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications, healthcare and editorial publishing.

She began her career at Advance America financial services company where, as a communications specialist, she refined her ability to develop and execute effective communications strategies.​ She later worked as a marketing analyst at HTC—the world’s largest telecom cooperative—where she was responsible for growing the company’s security product.

Alyssa joined Smarty Pants  in early 2018 as a Media Maven who developed content for the company’s website, social media channels, syndicated trend reports and industry publications. In 2020, her passions for insights and management led to an internal transition to a senior analyst level Insights Brainiac. She was quickly promoted to research manager (Insights Know-It-All) and, later, to her current role as a senior manager Insights Genius.


Alyssa graduated magna cum laude from Coastal Carolina University with a Master of Business Administration. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in both marketing and accounting from East Tennessee State University.

During her time at ETSU, Alyssa was a proud member of three prestigious academic organizations. She also served as a senator on the Student Government Association and the VP of Community Service for the Gamma Delta chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority.​


Alyssa lives in Myrtle Beach, SC, where she and her family enjoy spending summer days by the pool and fall evenings cruising in their golf cart. She loves experiencing all the joys of being a mom to two energetic sons and is an avid coffee drinker (to keep up with said sons). Her favorite research trip to date took her to Chicago to visit the world’s largest Starbucks. ​

Fun Facts

  • Spent 2023 as a “Yes Year”, saying yes to as many fun moments as possible. It led her to host several holiday-themed parties, go to a Pitbull concert and travel to new places​
  • Has recently rediscovered the joys of reading and looks forward to her monthly Not a Book Club book club, which discusses any books, podcasts, movies or shows members are currently enjoying ​
  • A self-proclaimed homebody and fitness enthusiast who enjoys continuously outfitting and working out in her garage gym…just steps away from her office!​
