Radames Rodriguez

Chief Know-It-All

Johnson City, TN

Radames is Smarty Pants’ co-founder and Chief Know-It-All. He is the company’s resident trend guru and culture connoisseur. Fluent in Spanish, he effortlessly navigates the ever-changing landscape of contemporary trends – from the latest sports-inspired fashion to how the nuanced shifts in therapy culture are shaping communications among youth. He’s a trendspotter, content omnivore and business savant.

Radames has traveled the world conducting and supporting qualitative research–extracting in-home insights from kids in Shanghai on how to evolve an entertainment IP, to chatting with low-income teens in Harlem about what type of educational support they need, to leading remote IDIs with seniors on how to improve their healthcare. Radames’s approach is casual, relatable and energetic and young people and adults alike easily connect with him.

When he’s not in the field, Smarty Pants relies on Radames for critical C-suite and operational support across disciplines and teams – from finance and tech to company policies and culture. He also plays a key role in the success of the agency’s Tennessee headquarters.  Always happy to let others shine, Radames leads with humility and generosity.

Experience

Radames co-founded Smarty Pants after several years as a manager at a top-rated qualitative research facility in Connecticut. There, he was responsible for interfacing with qualitative research participants and clients on research design, prep and execution. He managed recruiters, ensured all client needs were met, and made certain that projects were masterfully executed.

Radames’ experience spans food & beverage, media & entertainment, pharmaceutical, communications, healthcare and packaged goods. His client portfolio ranges from Subway and Pepsico to Hasbro and Hilton.

Prior to market research, Radames held roles as a NYC-based account manager for two global technology firms. His charge was to sell webhosting services and help companies adopt to an emerging technology called the… wait for it… internet.

Education

Radames obtained his bachelors degree in finance at Baruch College in New York City.

Outside the classroom, it was the museums, bookstores, theatres and bars of the city that taught him the most about people, what makes them tick, and how best to connect with them. He credits his expert interviewing and moderating skills to being a student of the diversity of NYC.

Personal

When he is not working at Smarty Pants, you can find Radames raising three busy kids (19, 15 and 11), playing golf in eccentric pants, or sorting and cataloging his vinyl record collection. A curator at his core, he also has jaw-dropping collections of shoes and baseball hats.

Radames is also a closet viewer of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (and Salt Lake City)Vanderpump Rules, and the Bachelor franchise. Well, if he isn’t yelling at the TV when the Mets or Cowboys are playing, that is.
